"The Mexican Road Race," was one of the most famous events in auto racing history, attracting the world's greatest drivers. It was canceled in 1955 because of the cost and concerns about safety. In 1988 the event was revived as a stage rally on closed public highways and for thirty years has offered both professional and amateur drivers an opportunity to experience the thrills and challenges of the original Pan- Am. Today it is unique in the world—racing against the clock at high speed on public highways, mostly through the mountains of central Mexico for a week.

Built primarily for Formula 1, COTA is dominated by a very steep four story climb to the top of turn one, which is followed by a long downhill winding section. The track itself is challenging on a world stage, and the facilities are among the best in existence. Vintage cars and drivers from around the globe make their way to this circuit, each hoping to take home the coveted gold helmet. The vintage racing excitement will be complimented with IGT and the Trans Am Series.

Racing September at Virginia International Raceway for The Heacock Classic Gold Cup, has long been a favorite weekend on SVRA’s calendar. It’s a beautiful time of year, with crisp mornings, clear skies, and warm days. Lush grasses lines the stark black racing surface make most views of this track worthy of a postcard. VIR is basically a car country club. In its longest configuration, more than two dozen turns are spread out over four miles, including a tight right hander where an oak tree once stood.

Watkins Glen is the spiritual home of post war racing in the United States. Racing in “the Glen” has undergone many changes over the decades, evolving from a street course to purpose built Grand Prix circuit. The weeklong festival honors the racing roots of Watkins Glen, with the downtown festival, and original course race reenactment. This year, the SVRA Vintage Grand Prix’s Feature Marque is Mini Cooper. Racing traditions continue with numerous vintage groups and features the Collier Cup. The Trans Am Series and IGT will also be on the schedule.
